Established in 1956, the Historical Society of Mendocino County is a non-profit that collects, preserves, and shares the diverse history of Mendocino County, CA. Located in Ukiah, CA, the HSMC consists of the William J. & Molly Toney Archive, which houses our collection, and the Held-Poage Memorial Home Museum, which will soon be a historic house museum (set to open in 2024/2025).

Our collection is a veritable treasure trove for history buffs, genealogists, and researchers interested in our region in Northern California. Our archive contains books covering local history, historic photographs and negatives, an extensive newspaper collection, microfilms, maps, documents, great registers, county records, genealogies, diaries, and more!
