Although Purdy is better known as a nurseryman who collected and propagated native California seeds and bulbs, he reveals a second love — Pomo Indian baskets — in this booklet first published in 1902. Purdy writes about the plants and other materials used to make the unique baskets, their distinctive weaves, their varied uses, and the women who made them.
